This book picks up a story the author began telling in 1994 through autobiographical narratives of Filipino women in Filipino Woman Writing (Second Edition, UST Publishing House, 2015). Here, Cristina Pantoja Hidalgo turns to the first women writers to embrace the title of ?literary memoirist.? Four generations of women writers are represented in this unusual volume: Paz Policarpio-Mendez, Solita Camara-Besa, Gilda Cordero-Fernando, Merlie Alunan, Criselda Yabes, Jenny Ortuoste, and Rica Bolipata-Santos. Hidalgo shows how these writers have crafted stories from memories that continue to haunt them, using language whose shapeliness transforms them into compelling experiences for their readers.
