Publisher: Antonio Enriquez was born in Zamboanga City, Mindanao, Philippines, in 1936. He has won several awards and grants for his short stories and novels: among them, the Don Carlos Palanca, Jr. Memorial Awards for Literature, for his short stories, and the Grand Prizes for his novels; the SEA Write Award; UMPIL Award for Fiction; the University of the Philippines National Fellow Grant; and the Hawthornden Castle International Residence Fellowship. His stories have been published and anthologized abroad. His novel Surveyors of the Liguasan Marsh, University of Queensland Press, Australia, broke the international scene as the first novel by a Filipino writer writing in his second language, English, in his own country. He is also a teacher, columnist, radio host, clerk, information officer, and Writer-in-Residence at the Ateneo de Zamboanga University, Western Mindanao State University, Zamboanga City, and Xavier University in Cagayan de Oro City. He presently lives in Cagayan de Oro City with his wife Joy, son Julien, and grandson Anton Vladimir.
